Will the Dubai Police Traffic Fine Discount Initiative Extend?

Last year on February 7, 2019, Dubai Police launched an initiative to curb traffic accidents and mayhem on the roads. This initiative was to reward safe driving, to be eligible for this initiative, the motorist will not have to commit any violation for a specific time period. If you do not incur any violations for three months, you will be rewarded with a 25 percent discount on your existing fines.

Furthermore, if no violations are made for six months, then you will be entitled to a 50 percent discount. A clean record for nine months will reward you with a 75 percent discount. If no violations for a year, then 100 percent discount on the fine. Yes, all your infractions are scratched off! All you must do is be a safe driver by following the rules and regulations.

The Dubai Police decided to keep this initiative for a year, and it ends on February 6, 2020. They have been continuously reminding the public via social media channels the merits of safe driving and the reward for being a safe driver. Just three more days left for motorists to reap all the benefits.

At a meeting held recently by force Commander-in-Chief of the Dubai Police, Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri announced that they might extend the one-year traffic fine discount scheme if the final results are encouraging. Other emirates may join this initiative too. 

A 50 percent discount on all traffic fines was announced in the emirate of Ajman on Monday and will come into effect on February 16, 2020. The scheme includes all fines issued for motorists before the date of January 31, 2020.
