The Suzuki Baleno is a five-door subcompact car produced in Japan launched at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. This vehicle has been thriving among the emerging markets catered explicitly to a budgeted family-type audience. One such country would be India, where this vehicle has been awarded as the best selling car. This is a great entry-level car and is sold in three trim levels. they are as follows: GA GL GLX I am currently reviewing the GLX, which is an excellent family-use car. This car has a short wheelbase, which makes it easy to park. The Baleno is easy-going at low speeds with smooth steering, which helps to navigate the car in tight corners. However, this car does not do well at high-speed tight turns as you can feel the body is not tied down to the road. The car is light, so not much acceleration is required to get the vehicle moving within the city. The car does need a little push on the highway. During high speeds, the car does emit a loud noise, and since the body is like a shell the sound echo’s within. The suspensions on the vehicle are stiff; hence every bump on the route can be felt. Furthermore, this affects ride quality.

Specs:

Engine: 1.4 Liter – 4 Cylinders  Horsepower: 91 Bhp  Torque: 130 Nm Drive System: Front Wheel Drive Transmission:  Automatic The Suzuki Baleno is a 1.4 Liter – V4 CVT engine with a 91 bhp horsepower and 130 Nm torque. The engine can perform a 0 to 100 km/hr in 11.6 seconds with a top speed of 170 km/hr. The acceleration is quick due to the light material used on the frame, making the body lighter and faster. Compared to its competitors, the Baleno’s fuel consumption is below average, which is 4.4 in the city and 5.4 on the highway.

Exterior:

The fashionable premium supermini set inspires the Baleno styling. The design of the car is sophisticated and leaves an understating impression on the street. Even though this car is manufactured for the emerging markets, it certainly has a European style to it.  Wrapped in luxury, the 2020 Suzuki Baleno has a graceful flow from the front grille to the chrome trim of the rear hatch. However, the bumpers are made of plastic, which looks elegant but does not provide adequate safety.  The grille is a small black chrome accent concentrated in the center with a silver S flashing prominently in the center. The halogen headlamps are petite that cover a small portion of the bumper’s frame, but matches in with the sleek appearance.  Over at the side, the vehicle is equipped with 15″ steel wheels, but you have the option to upgrade them to 16″ alloys. The door handles are covered with a chrome finish.  The hatchback keeps the rear small with a small spoiler protruding. The extra-wide chrome bar running the full width of the tailgate is too flashy.

Interior:

The interior of the car is designed to its maximum potential of space. The dashboard is covered in hard plastic with high-quality silver ornaments.  The steering is covered with synthetic plastic, which does an average job in comfort while driving. The steering is equipped with a cruise control system, which reduces any effort during long distances drives.  Just behind the steering is a gauge cluster, which keeps you informed about your driving status. This instrument is 4.2″ color LCD screen, which allows you to keep track of fuel efficiency, engine output, average vehicle speed, and other driving results whenever you want. Ergonomic cloth-based front seats are wide with a high ceiling. The angles and height can be adjusted manually with a level on the side. There is a generous amount of legroom in the front and back.  The air conditioning vents in the center are bordered with a silver lining, creating a T-shape for the center console. In between the airconditioning vents is a 7″ color touchscreen infotainment system, whose presence as standard. The LCD does a great job of displaying information and is responsive. The system includes features such as hands-free phone and smartphone integration. The system is also compatible with Apple CarPlay, Android AutoTM, and MirrorLinkTM which allows the use of various smartphone applications* Below the infotainment, there is a panel that allows a smooth operation of the air conditioner manually through a high-contrast LCD. This section is covered with buttons and knobs.  The capacity of the trunk is 12 cubic feet of space. The rear seats have a standard 60/40 split, folding them down grants you access to more space. The cargo is large and can easily accommodate two medium sized bags.

  • Light, impact-absorbing Total Effective Control Technology (TECT) body
  • Traction Control (TRAC)
