Supporting the UAE Government’s Vision 2021 for providing accessible modern telecommunication services, RTA and DU Telecom have signed a deal to equip over 10,000 Dubai Taxis with free wifi internet connectivity. The historic deal was signed at Gitex 2018 and part of a strategic smart city partnership. According to the agreement  all 10,800 vehicles that make up the six franchise companies operating in Dubai will be covered within the course of the next 12 months. It is worth noticing that Dubai already has more than 400 free WiFi hotspots across the city, including the Dubai Metro, Dubai Tram, Emaar Boulevard Downtown, and Global Village. DU had started a pilot project in 2016 where it equipped 500 Airport Taxis with free internet.
