The XC90 is Volvo’s large, seven-seater SUV and also the company’s flagship. It has everything a modern family would look for when it comes to an everyday vehicle.
XC90’s exterior design was upgraded for the 2020 model year with new wheels, exterior colors and a modern new grille, among other details. Key features include the iconic “Thor’s Hammer” LED headlight design and the Volvo word mark on the rear.
The 2021 Volvo XC90 T6 features a turbocharged and supercharged four-cylinder 2.0 liter engine that cranks out 320 horsepower. There a few drive modes to chose from depending on the terrain and driver preference. The overall handling is good and the steering wheel response is quick. The braking response is exceptional as well.
The XC90 feels stable when turning with minimal body-roll. Even on rough surfaces, the ride quality remains uncompromising. The 20 inch wheels and a decent amount of ground clearance mean that off-roading on rocky terrains and hard packed sand would be very enjoyable and easy to manage.
Volvo’s Geartronic transmission usually changes gears quickly and smoothly, but on occasion it’s hesitant to downshift. It is a bit irritating for the spirited driver but one can get used to this.
The acceleration response on the XC90 is more than exciting, even though it has a tiny 2.0 liter engine, the turbo and the super charger in it powers it to a 0-100 km speed in only 6.5 seconds.
XC90’s fuel economy inside the city and on the highway is very impressive. We drove it from Dubai to Fujairah, and in every possible corner of Dubai and found the combined economy to be around 7.7 Liters per 100 kilometers travelled.

In the cabin, the XC90 provides a calm and balanced environment with a blend of high-end materials such as wood, crystal and metal in a sophisticated Scandinavian design. The XC90 can be ordered with a range of different seating configurations, from the seven-seat family SUV to a brand new six-seat configuration. New interior materials including a wool blend offer further options for personalization. The driver gets a 12.3 inch intelligent driver system display screen and a crisp head up display. The beautiful Nappa leather upholstery on the seating is ventilated and heated. Front row seats have power lumber and memory that can be updated from the infotainment touch screen. The 2021 Volvo XC90 delivers an intuitive touch screen interface that combines car functions, navigation, connected services and in-car entertainment applications such as Spotify, Pandora, Baidu or TuneIn. The portrait-oriented touch screen enables easy and fast access to a host of functions and features. Smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is also available. The audio system is powered by Bowers & Wilkins and boasts 19 speakers that are perfectly placed around the car for an incredible acoustic experience. There is 4 zone climate control in the Volvo XC90. The seating in the second row is spacious and has an option to recline as well. This feature obviously would limit the 3rd row leg room which is overall adequate enough. There is a fully retractable panoramic sunroof that adds more comfort and luxury to the cabin once opened. Even with all three rows of seating in place, there is decent amount of cargo space in the XC90. This dramatically increases once the 3rd row is folded away.2021 Volvo XC90 price in UAE: Starting from AED 224,900
