BLENHEIM, Ontario (1 November 2022) – RM Sotheby’s travelled to Carl A. Haas Automobile Imports, Inc. in Lincolnshire, Illinois, to host The House That Newman/Haas Racing Built—the largest ever offering of open-wheel racecars.

Fielding undisputed superstars like Mario and Michael Andretti, Nigel Mansell, and Sébastien Bourdais, the team founded by Paul Newman and Carl Haas dominated both CART and Champ Car between 1983 and 2011, and forever changed the history of motorsport. History was made once again as every single lot found a new home during the one-day auction, with a total of $6,096,800 in sales.

Highlights

One of the most significant cars of the 20th century and Newman/Haas Racing’s 1993 CART PPG IndyCar World Series-winning chassis, this 1993 Lola-Ford Cosworth T93/00 established Nigel Mansell as the only simultaneous reigning champion of IndyCar and Formula 1 and went to its new owner for $995,000.

Piloted by Mario Andretti throughout his final year in the PPG IndyCar World Series, this 1994 Lola-Ford Cosworth T94/20 raced 6 out of 16 events and carried Andretti to his final podium. This past weekend, the car sold for $379,000, more than two times its pre-auction estimate.

A Nigel Mansell Race Worn F1 Helmet turned heads as it went under the hammer and sold for an astonishing $90,000—smashing its pre-auction estimate.
