On Monday, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) Dubai announced that electric vehicles registered in Dubai can enjoy free parking across the Emirate. According to the Khaleej Times, the free parking for electric car in Dubai has been in effect since July 1st 2020.
Free parking for electric car in Dubai is available to all road users who have registered an electric car such as Tesla Model X or Model 3. Drivers will not have to obtain a permit from the RTA. Vehicles listed in their database as an electric car will be exempt by default.
“Targeted vehicles can be automatically detected. Upon entering the number plate of the vehicle, the parking inspector will verify if the vehicle is electric or otherwise, and accordingly subject to parking fees or exempted, thanks to the online link between RTA’s parking and licensing systems,” said Eng. Maitha bin Adai, CEO of Traffic and Roads Agency, RTA.
