The 8th generation 2020 Nissan Sentra is a five-seater mid-size car wholly redesigned and launched in November 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show. This vehicle is available in a few countries due to its limited demand but is a critical entry-level vehicle for Nissan. The Sentra, also is known as safety, completely refines what an affordable car can be.

Over the years, the Sentra has been redesigned from a budget car to a well balanced mid-size sedan with essential features. In addition, the design has become aesthetically appealing over the generations as well. The Sentra comes in these trims, they are:

1.6 (S, SV)

1.8 (S, SV)

I am currently reviewing the 1.8 SV, which is the highest trim level equipped with a Premium Package. Driving the Nissan Sentra, the electric-powered steering wheel makes the car responsive and it does an excellent job on turns by providing constant feedback giving it a sportier feel. This vehicle reacts well on lower gears as compared to the higher gears. Hence, the handling is better at low speeds. It is easy to cruise within the city or match the highway speeds. This vehicle is equipped with MacPherson Strut stabilizer, which will absorb every bump on the road, but you best not drive this car on rugged terrain.

Specs:

Engine: 1.8 Liter – 4 Cylinders DOHC 16V Twin CVTC

Horsepower: 130 Bhp

Torque:  174 Nm

Drive System: Rear Wheel Drive

Transmission: XTRONIC CVT

The Sentra is a 2.0-liter inline-4 cylinder producing power of 130-horsepower with continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT).

Plowing that accelerator, the Sentra does a 0 to 100 km/hr in 9.2 seconds with a top speed of 200 km/hr. The vehicle is equipped with an independent rear suspension, which makes the ride quality better. The fuel economy is improved compared to previous models thanks to the new engine, despite it being significantly large and powerful. The engine consumes 12.33 kpl city and 16.58 kpl highway.

Exterior:

The redesigned Sentra rides on a new platform slightly lengthier, broader and heavier compared to its previous models. The wheelbase is extended, making it luxurious and athletic.

The grille is bold and retains the same shape as previous years while the shape of the LED-headlight’s are long and narrow. The lights stretch almost over the 16 “inch alloy wheels.

The lines run from the hood down to the sides gives the car a streamline effect and also help with the car being aerodynamic.

Interior:

The interior design of Sentra reaches far past a budgeted car. The dashboard is completely covered with dark-tanned soft-touch surfaces on top fading to beige at the bottom.

The display gauge is in an analog layout and provides vital info about the engine. The soft leather wrapped steering wheel is integrated with adaptive cruise control and volume controlling functions to help you change settings without taking your eyes off the road.

There are wide airconditioning vents at the top of the center console, and just below is a 5.8″ color display touchscreen, which clearly looks outdated. This system is neither Apple CarPlay nor Android compatible, but you can charge your phone with a USB slot available below.

Since this is the highest trim, we have quilted leather seats with heating and ventilation functions. The front seats can be automatically adjusted six-ways and two-way lumbar using the power levers.

The driver’s seat is comfortable, with good thigh and side support, so you don’t roll off on sharp turns. There is ample of legroom and headroom for an average person. The rear-seat passengers have sufficient room to stretch their legs out comfortably as well.

The trunk is broad and deep, providing 14.3 cubic feet of space adequate to keep two large travel bags.

Sentra Additional Features:

  • Anti-Lock Braking System (Abs) & Brake Assist (Ba)
  • Six Airbags Airbags
  • Electronic Brake-Force Distribution (Ebd)
  • Immobiliser
  • Zone Body Concept
  • Brake Assist
  • Front & Rear Parking Sensors
