2020 Hyundai Veloster: Review, Specs and Price in UAE

The Hyundai Veloster is something unusual. It is a head-turner, you can’t just look at it once and turn away. There is something in its exterior design that keeps you hooked on. Most sporty coupes come with two doors, a hatchback comes with four but the Veloster comes with three doors and is still able to seat four people fairly comfortably. Considering its design, price point and a fair bit of practicality, this sporty hatchback is very popular among fresh university grads and families with young kids. We had the mid-trim of the Veloster for a week and took it to pretty much every notable place in Dubai. Almost everyone we met, loved the exterior styling and the cabin feel. Being a front wheel drive and a six-speed automatic gearbox, the driving experience is pretty vanilla. Nothing wrong with it but it is just plain. There are paddle shifters at the back of the steering wheel but the dual clutch does not do justice to this sport function. Overall suspension and handling around corners is decent as well. The Veloster looks sporty but the acceleration response is pretty average. While we didn’t expect it to beat the Hellcat on a drag strip, the 0-100 dash took over 11.5 seconds and it felt like a lifetime. Combined fuel economy inside the city and on the highway averages to be about 7.2 liters per 100 kilometers. One of the very few areas of additional improvement for the Veloster are engine, wind and road noise. I think better insulation of the cabin or double glazing the windows can do it very easily.

2020 Hyundai Veloster Specs:

Engine: 2.0 Liter – 4 Cylinders Horsepower: 147 Bhp Torque: 179 Nm Drive System: Front Wheel Drive Transmission: Automatic

Exterior:

The exterior styling on the Hyundai Veloster is very sharp. Since it has a two tone exterior, you get a very refined and polished look. Highlight of the front-end has to be the black mesh radiator grille and the slim LED Headlamps. Hyundai Veloster Hyundai Veloster has a typical hatchback stance with a sloping roofline and an aerodynamic profile. Hyundai Veloster The three door design, hasn’t been copied by any other manufacturer yet. So it is safe to say that it did not catch on as a trend. I am unsure what the design logic behind one less door is and whether the newer models would feature two or four doors instead of three. Hyundai Veloster

Interior:

Veloster has a spacious cabin with a lovely finish. The steering wheel is sporty and feels nice upon touch. There is a head up display that pops up from the dashboard when needed. The front row seats are sporty, yet comfortable. There is good amount of cubby space in the front, middle and side of the car . In the center console there is an 8 inch infotainment screen that offers Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. A couple of USB ports for phone connectivity incase you need it. As far as the rear seating goes, there is enough room for shorter adults to sit one behind the other. For its class of cars, the leg and head room is acceptable and the overall ride is comfortable. You’ll love the amazing, panoramic sun roof. In good weather, it should be left open most of the time. The air condition works perfectly. The luggage space in this sporty hatchback is huge. In comparison to most similar cars in its class, the Veloster comes out on top. You can easily fit in two large suitcases and some more.
