Hyundai Motor Group is driving the future of sustainable transport in Saudi Arabia, successfully completing a groundbreaking hydrogen mobility trial in NEOM’s Trojena mountains.
The trial, conducted from October to December 2024, simulated passenger transport from NEOM’s future business district to Trojena, supported by the region’s first hydrogen refueling station, built by Enowa.
This achievement aligns with a September 2024 memorandum of understanding between Hyundai and NEOM’s Mobility sector to bring zero-emission solutions to the futuristic city.
Through its HTWO hydrogen brand, Hyundai is pushing the boundaries of the global energy transition. With decades of expertise in hydrogen technology since the late 1990s, the Group is building an open platform for collaboration, reinforcing its commitment to a hydrogen-powered economy.
This milestone in NEOM positions Hyundai as a leader in sustainable mobility, offering Middle Eastern drivers a glimpse into the future of eco-friendly transport.
Hyundai – Enowa Partnersgip
Partnering with Enowa, NEOM’s energy and water subsidiary, Hyundai tested its hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) coach bus, UNIVERSE, on a challenging mountainous route, reaching elevations of 2,080 meters and gradients up to 24 percent. This marks the first deployment of hydrogen-powered vehicles in high-altitude conditions, showcasing their reliability for Middle East commuters and automotive enthusiasts. The trial, conducted from October to December 2024, simulated passenger transport from NEOM’s future business district to Trojena, supported by the region’s first hydrogen refueling station, built by Enowa.
