At the 2019 New York International  Auto Show, KIA has made a big reveal of its hardcore Stinger GTS . The 365 Horsepower car on display was an exclusive  “Federation” orange color and we are told its production is only going to be limited to 800 units. The exterior is carbon fibre-clad and has a sportier design  as compared to previous models. In a first for KIA Stinger the drive system is a Dynamic All Wheel drive. In order to make the limited-edition car drift, the new AWD system works alongside a mechanical limited slip rear differential, distributing the required amount of power. This arrangement closes the gap between AWD traction and RWD behavior. The Stinger GTS has three drive modes each of which alter how much the car drifts:
  • Comfort” where 60% of the power is sent to the rear wheels
  • Sport” sends 80% power to the rear
  • Drift Mode” has the ability to send up to 100% of the power to the rear wheels.
The engine on this limited edition KIA Stinger is a 3.3-liter V6 twin turbo engine, equipped to deliver 376 of torque and is married to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The gearbox has a breakthrough feature, the “Transmission Shift Pattern” technology that holds gears without upshifting when drifting, making for impressive powerslides when exploring the rear-biased dynamics of this new KIA. The Kia Stinger GTS will start production from Spring 2019 and will be available early 2020.
