UAE is all set to launch its own first ever SUV named ‘Al Reem’. The vehicle is designed and manufactured in the UAE keeping the local Arab market in mind. Around 13,000 cars will be manufactured in the first phase of production by the Sandstorm Automotive Factory in Dubai. The company also announced its plans to launch a second vehicle named the ‘S24’, which is going to be a double-cabin pickup. Both vehicles will be manufactured at the Sandstorm Automotive Factory based in Dubai Investment Park. From design to assembly, the whole production will be handled entirely by Emirati workers. To realize this aim, the company has recruited a large of number of UAE nationals in various administration and operational position, inline with UAE’s vision of 2030. ‘Al Reem’ the seven-seater 4×4 SUV, is inspired by the beauty and speed of the Arabian wild animal ‘gazelle’. It is an on and off-road vehicle designed with the ability to drive on sandy and rough roads. On the other hand the ‘S24’ model is double-cabin truck that can seat five people. Both vehicles will be manufactured and assembled at the Sandstorm plant, which is located in Dubai Investment Park area and spreads over 48000 square feet. The car manufacturing facility is the first of its kind in the GCC. The vehicles manufactured at the Sandstorm plant will be in compliance with the GCC specifications, and will be certified for safety and road worthiness by a German company. The Sandstorm plant is the first step to build an automotive industry in the region, which will attract foreign manufacturers to build their cars in the UAE. The plant will help develop local talent and train future automotive engineers to help make UAE an important player in the global automotive industry. For now, the first milestone has been achieved with the launch of the Al Reem car. The car will be available in six different colors- black, grey, silver, golden, pearl white and white. UAE has also built an international standard electric car MUSE that was on display on AutoShanghai earlier this year.
