In a country where cultural shifts are gaining momentum, esports is more than entertainment. It’s a platform for global influence and local pride.

The Esports World Cup (EWC), set to light up Boulevard Riyadh City from July 10 to August 24, 2025, is more than a gaming tournament.

It’s a key part of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, aiming to make the Kingdom a global hub for esports and interactive entertainment. Jameel Motorsport, the motorsport arm of Abdul Latif Jameel Motors (Toyota’s distributor in Saudi Arabia since 1955), is reinforcing its partnership with the Esports World Cup Foundation (EWCF) as a Founding Partner for the second year. This collaboration highlights the growing cultural and economic importance of esports in Saudi Arabia and explains why Toyota, through Jameel Motorsport, is investing in this vibrant space.

Are Esports a Cultural Force in Saudi Arabia?

Esports is quickly becoming part of Saudi Arabia’s cultural landscape, especially among its youth, who represent over 60% of the population under 30. Gaming resonates as a modern form of competition, community, and creativity.

The EWC, hosted in the lively capital, amplifies this by blending global gaming trends with local pride. Jameel Motorsport’s activation, the Jameel Motorsport Park, turns the event into a family-friendly experience, offering racing-themed activities like simulators and Toyota GR vehicle displays.

This mix of virtual and real-world motorsport taps into Saudi Arabia’s growing interest in gaming and car culture, creating a shared space for diverse audiences.

Toyota’s Collaboration

Toyota, through Jameel Motorsport, views esports as a strategic way to support Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, which focuses on economic diversification and youth empowerment.

By backing the EWC, Toyota invests in developing local talent and improving gaming infrastructure, as noted by Munir Khoja, Managing Director of Jameel Motorsport. The partnership also bridges motorsport and esports, showcased by a cinematic stunt featuring Toyota Supras drifting through Riyadh Boulevard, styled like a video game.

This bold move combines the thrill of racing with gaming’s digital appeal, engaging Saudi Arabia’s tech-savvy generation while strengthening Toyota’s innovative brand image.
