The Aston Martin Valkyrie marked a milestone in its debut season, securing its best result yet with a sixth-place finish at the Motul Sportscar Grand Prix at Road America in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
This achievement extends the British hypercar’s streak of six consecutive top-ten finishes, maintaining a flawless 100% finishing record in North America’s premier endurance series.
The THOR Team, with drivers Roman De Angelis and Ross Gunn, showcased the car’s potential on the challenging 4.05-mile Road America circuit. Despite four Full Course Yellow periods disrupting the race, strategic decisions and consistent pace allowed the Valkyrie to climb as high as fifth before securing sixth, just 16.5 seconds behind the winner.
The Valkyrie’s performance was strong from the start, posting the second-fastest time in free practice and qualifying within 0.7 seconds of pole. This result builds on its promising debut at Sebring and a strong showing at Watkins Glen, signaling steady progress for Aston Martin’s endurance racing program.
With the next race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway’s “Battle on the Bricks” from 19-21 September, the team is poised to further unlock the Valkyrie’s potential.
For UAE motoring enthusiasts, the Valkyrie’s blend of cutting-edge engineering and racing pedigree mirrors the aspirational automotive culture thriving in Dubai, making its IMSA achievements a point of pride and excitement.
