How to use RTA Parking for Sharjah Number Plates

Paying for RTA Parking in Dubai has never been easier so long as A. You read our guide to parking locations (which you can find by clicking here) and B. You know the secret codes to text. “But I don’t know the secret codes”, we hear you cry.

Luckily, Autodrift have again got your back. Here’s our one stop guide to paying for your parking from your phone.

mParking

The RTA have licensed an electronic parking service, mParking. This virtual parking service allows you to pay for parking fees using any Etisalat or Du Mobile via a text message using a particular format. For the purpose of this guide, we’ll be using a Sharjah vehicle number plate.

Firstly, you need to fill out the text address. This always remains the same in Dubai.

You should text 7275 (PARK).

BMW X5

For our Sharjah vehicle, you need to enter an area code first. For our Sharjah plate that’s SHJ1. So, to park for thirty minutes, in space 335 in zone A, your text would look like this –

SHJ1 1768 335A .5

Or

<Area Code> <Plate No.> <Zone No.> <Duration>

mParking

For Dubai registered vehicles the format of the text follows :-

<Plate No.> <Zone No.> <Duration>

Or

D8878 363C 1 – This would give you an hour at the 363 space in the C zone.

Vehicles registered elsewhere need area codes AUH13 for Abu Dhabi and KSA for Saudi.

For times you can use .5, 0.5, 30, 30 min, 30 mins, 30 minutes, 1, 2, 1 hour, 2 hours. For parking time allowances and charges, again you can check on our RTA parking guide. The text will also incur a AED0.30 charge on top of the parking fee.

For more information on parking time allowances and parking fees, check out our RTA parking guide.
