Unlike some other french cars, the Peugeot 508 GT is not an old man’s car. It has bold styling, modern interior and a flair about its personality that is nothing short of being best described as “inspirational”.
Even though the 508 GT is a front wheel drive, it has more than entertaining driving dynamics. It is equipped with Manual, Eco, Normal and Sport drive modes. On the Sport mode, the handling stiffens a bit and the driver gets a better feel of the road and acceleration improves considerably.
It is not that the 508 GT will tear down the drag strip but taking into account the engine size and the output, it does a very impressive 0 – 100 km per hour dash. We clocked our best in 8.2 seconds and felt very content with is.
The fuel economy is another feather in the 508 GT’s cap. We drove around the city in many different scenarios (rush hour school run, weekend highway) and found the average fuel consumption to be around 6 liters per 100 km travelled. These numbers would give a Nissan Altima and Honda Accord a good run for their money.
Like in all cars, there is also some room for improvement in the new 508 GT. We found the engine to be noisy and not entirely refined in its sound quality. Cabin insulation was almost satisfactory with some road noise creeping in.
PEUGEOT 508 GT Specs:
Engine: 1.6 Liter – 4 Cylinders (Turbo) Horsepower: 217 Bhp Torque: 300 Nm Drive System: Front Wheel Drive Transmission: 8 Speed AutomaticExterior Styling:
Vertical LED daytime running lights provide a distinct identity, and the bonnet has been lowered to enhance the dynamic look perfectly aligned with modern PEUGEOT design language. The roof line of the 508 GT is low and sleek – following premium sector design cues – and the rear lights are framed in a glossy black horizontal strip that now features on many of PEUGEOT latest vehicles. Blacked-out three-dimensional full LED rear lights inspired by recent PEUGEOT concept cars appear like colored ‘lion claws’ a design feature synonymous with the PEUGEOT brand.Interior Design:
The PEUGEOT 508 GT features a refined, yet sporty interior and is fitted with comfortable AGR certified, red Nappa leather seats- or optionally black Alcantara & Nappa leather seats which envelops passengers in a soft, modern, refined environment. The careful assembly of all of these components are true hallmarks of luxury, sport saloons. The central touch-screen is perfectly positioned and accompanied by seven ‘piano key’ toggle switches which operate the main i-Cockpit® features: radio, air conditioning, navigation, vehicle settings, telephone, phone mirroring, ambient-lighting in addition to multi-point seat-massage. Second row seating has adequate room to seat two adults. Seating a third person could get tight but I guess this holds true for all small sedans.PEUGEOT 508 GT price in UAE:
