Technical Details:

Just like the 2019 Toyota Camry, It is built on the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform. The new Corolla has a lower centre of gravity. The new design features a 60% more rigid body shell and a multi-link suspension that has proved essential for better handling and stability, while promising a comfortable ride for all occupants.

The new Toyota Corolla Hybrid has two power sources. One being the 1.8L petrol engine and other being two electric motors that produce 97 hp and 71 hp. The engine has a combined power of 121 hp and both electric motors deliver 14.5 kg-m and 16.6 kg-m of torque respectively. The engine is mated to an Electronically Controlled Continuously Variable Transmission (E-CVT), which provides an outstanding fuel consumption value of 27.6km/L, while making the driving experience quieter and more enjoyable.

Safety Features:

Crash testing at 51 km per hour showed a completely unharmed cabin after many tests. Some of the features below.
  • Dual Front and Side Airbags
  • Vehicle Stability Control
  • Electronic Brake-force Distribution
  • Hill-Start Assist
  • Anti-lock Braking System

Interior:

I admit being pleasantly surprised with the expansive and comfortable cabin Toyota Corolla 2020 had to offer. The interior was built using quality materials with a good finishing and seats appeared to be ergonomically designed as well. The new cushion material is also a welcome change. While I only drove it for around 15 minutes, I got the permission to rev its engine to high rpm, warm up its tyres and throw it around the sharp bends of Dubai Festival City’s Badia neighborhood. Four people in the car with me rated it satisfactory in ride comfort and therefore it gets a good nod of approval. The front and rear seating legroom is sufficient and while it features arm rests, I failed to understand the lack of power seats. Only the driver gets it. Rocking dual AC and vents for the rear seat (First time in a Corolla) the car has other premium features.
  • One-touch moonroof
  • 7-inch color multi-information display (MID) in the cluster gauge
  • 7-inch touch-screen multimedia infotainment display,
  • Reversing camera
  • Cruise control
  • Wireless Phone Charging
  • Six-speaker sound system
  • Multi-adjustable power driver seat
  • 60:40 split-folding rear seats.
Toyota Corolla 2020 is available in eight distinctive exterior colors. So no more sticking to Pearl White or Dark Silver Gray.
