The new Opel Astra is a highly versatile 5-door sporty hatchback that has just arrived in the UAE. It is an exciting blend of German engineering, emotional body design and a sporty appearance.
Providing seating for 5 people, the Astra is stylish, dynamic, innovative and now more exciting than ever. It drives very much like most german cars. The handling is very accurate and even with the front wheel drive you can take sharp bends with confidence and cruise on highway speeds with great stability.
Cabin feels well-insulated and while there is some road noise on rough surfaces, there is hardly any engine or wind noise.
Considering the Astra has a small 1.4 liter engine, it can hit top speeds of 210 km per hour. From a standstill, it can accelerate to 100 km per hour in only 8.9 seconds, thanks to the smart turbo engine.
The fuel economy is exceptionally good. The Astra consumes a little over 6.4 liters of fuel when traveling 100 kilometers (combined average of city and highway commute).

The new infotainment system includes connectivity features such as Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™, and uses Voice Control for connected smartphones, as well as Bluetooth® for hands-free calling, audio streaming and phone book access. There is wireless phone charging also (huge plus).
The rear-view camera makes reversing a stress-free experience. The on-board display provides a live overview of what’s happening behind you and guidelines help you to manoeuvre and estimate the distances to other objects.
In the back, we have a fair bit of legroom, premium seating with comfort quality and a modern design. Its a hatchback, so seating 3 people in the back for a long journey wont be ideal.
There is dual zone climate control and the AC is quite powerful even for the rear seating.
Luggage space in the trunk is decent enough (370L) and you can fit two medium sized suitcases.
