2021 Mercedes GLE 450: Review, Specs and Price in UAE

The GLE 450 is a part of the Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class. Formerly known as the Mercedes-Benz M-Class, the GLE is a mid-size luxury 4×4 produced by the German automaker Mercedes-Benz since 1997. On the outside, the GLE 450 has a simple, classy but a boxy design. Two slims crests running down the hood add some depth and character. Undoubted highlight of the front end is the meticulously crafted grille with a unique diamond pattern. Acceleration and Top Speed

Powering the Mercedes GLE 450 4Matic  is a 3.0 Liter engine that delivers an impressive 367 horsepower and  500 Nm of torque. The EQ system that holds a 48 volt battery helps in silent start, also adds massive low end torque (250 Nm) and an extra 22 horsepower. When you step on the throttle, the first boost of power is delivered from the EQ battery and then engine quickly takes over afterwards. Even with a boxy exterior design, the GLE 450 offers quick acceleration and the 0 to 100 km/h dash is clocked at just 5.7 seconds and it can reach top speeds of up to 250 km per hour.

Suspension and Handling

The best part of driving the Mercedes GLE 450 is its fully hydraulic AIRMATIC suspension. There is hardly any body roll while cornering and the overall ride comfort is of the highest quality. All four wheels  have individual intelligent dampers that adjust instantly when they sense even a slight change in the terrain. You could cruise over speed humps at speeds of around 35 – 40 km per hour and not even feel the slightest of changes. Off roading with the GLE 450 is a special kind of experience, the customizable head up display shows you a vital information about the terrain and helps adjust the variations in driving conditions.

Fuel Economy

We measured a combined fuel economy of 9 liters per 100 km travelled. Driving inside the city with moderate traffic, the fuel economy was measured around 9.4 liters and on the highway it was close to 8.3 liters. These are almost class leading numbers.

The GLE 450 has premium cabin space and a world class build quality where supreme refinement is seen even in the smallest of details, such has a 64 color selection of ambient lighting. It seats 7 people with a seating configuration of 2 front, 3 middle and 2 in the rear. The armrest storage cubby space is generous, as is the glovebox and door bins around the car. The multi-function sports steering wheel is dressed in nappa leather and provides easy controls of the MBUX infotainment system. You also have optimum parking service on board.  Active Parking Assist with 360° camera makes it easier for you to find a parking space and to manoeuvre into and out of parking spaces. The cockpit style widescreen display hosts two giant 12.3-inch screens, mounted flush on top of the dashboard are as seamless as any automotive screen you’d have ever come across. The high-performance speakers develop a first-class surround sound. You can specifically optimize this for the front and rear seats to intensify the listening experience. A level of quality that is also visible, thanks to the high-quality Burmester lettering. Seating for all three rows is fairly comfortable with the only concern of a bit of tight legroom for the third row. Longer rides might not be ideal for taller passengers. There is a THERMOTRONIC automatic climate control that is adjustable for all three rows with plenty of vents spread around the cabin.
