The 2020 Toyota Land Cruiser Heritage Edition is a retro-inspired vehicle produced at a limited-availability of only 20 cars in UAE with manual transmission and 80 cars with automatic transmission.
It is one of a kind car launched in tribute to celebrate the success in selling over 10 million units of its nameplates over several decades. Toyota has decided to manufacture these exclusive editions in V6 and V8 engine trims.
To celebrate its 60 years of automotive dominance, Toyota manufactured the Land Cruiser Heritage Edition design as a throwback to evoke nostalgia among the UAE Nationals who back in the days used to cruise through the desert as a daily routine.
This vehicle is available in the following trims:
Toyota Land Cruiser Heritage Edition 4.0L v6
Toyota Land Cruiser Heritage Edition 4.6L v8
I have been driving the V8 version of Heritage Edition around for a week. My latest achievements include unlocking new wadis near Fujairah and taking every possible sandy shortcut to my house in Barsha South. Initial observations below:- The Land Cruiser Heritage Edition is simple, smooth, and keeps to basic essential features.
- Rides high than most of its competitors and there is no step, so it is difficult to get it and out.
- Cabin is well insulated from wind or road noise.
- Limited infotainment system / No Apple CarPlay.
Toyota Land Cruiser Heritage Specs (Manual):
Engine: 4.0 Liter – 6 Cylinders Horsepower: 271 Bhp Drive System: All Wheel Drive-Full Time Transmission: 5 Speed Manual Transmission The engine specification of the Land Cruiser Heritage Edition is exclusive for the UAE region and equipped with a 4.0-liter V6 five-speed manual with a 271-BHP, which is a smaller powertrain. An optional higher trim is also available, which is 4.6-liter V8 six-speed automatic with 304-hp. Both trims are 4×4 full-time activated, the V6 model riding on steel wheels while the V8 on alloys, both measuring 17 inches.Toyota Land Cruiser Heritage Specs (Automatic):
Engine: 4.6 Liter – 8 Cylinders Horsepower: 304 Bhp Drive System: All Wheel Drive-Full Time Transmission: 6 Speed Automatic Transmission The V8 version of the Land Cruiser is anything but fuel-efficient, even though its equipped with an ECO drive mode. The consumption is 5.53 km per liter within the city and 9.2 km per liter on the highway. While comparing it with other models of the same variant, this vehicle performs pretty poorly.Exterior:
The design of the Heritage is the 80s-inspired retro theme with a simple straight grille and large headlights. These halogen headlights are fitted with the orange sequential indicators. The vehicle has the classic 17″ alloys wheels on both the trims. The body of this vehicle has a spectrum of orange to red decal on its side (manual) and black and gray for the automatic V8. The traditional roof rails are back as well. A symbolic emblem of the Land Cruiser is added on each side at the rear as prestige. The manual edition back has a spare wheel that is mounted and swings out upon releasing a lever but for the automatic, the spare wheel is fixed underneath the car.Interior:
The interior cabin has old-school fabric-based seats with the Heritage Edition logo stitched on them. The seats are soft and comfortable. There is enough headroom and legroom for all the passengers, even for the second row. The third row is obviously a bit tight. The dashboard offers a beautiful contrast of black to bronze leather with some parts covered with wood grain accents. The steering is covered with a soft leather fabric that provides a comfortable feeling while driving. The speedometer has a large analog layout. Don’t be fooled by the retro design as this vehicle has cutting-edge technology. The Heritage Land Cruiser’s center console is equipped with a 10″ infotainment system that includes parking sensors and a Navigation System with Bluetooth. Land Cruisers are known for their extreme off-road abilities. Most of these modes can be operated by toggling a knob located on the center console. The knob helps you select from a 4-wheel high to 4-wheel low. Besides, if the terrain below contains loosened rocks, then the crawl mode can be activated. The crawl speed can also be controlled (much like a cruise control function). The V6 version manual transmission vehicle only has 5 seats but the V8 version has a full 7 or you can say 8 seating capacity. Being a champion off-road vehicle, both the trims are equipped with a Built-in Air Compressor for airing up the tires. The luggage space is compromised when all three rows of seating are in use.Additional Features:
- Anti-Lock Braking System (Abs) & Brake Assist (Ba)
- Dual Front Airbags
- Electronic Brake-Force Distribution (Ebd)
- Classic 70’s Side Stripes*
- Front & Rear Parking Sensors*
- Tyre Pressure Warning
