2020 Kia Sportage: Review, Specs and Price in UAE

Alright guys, it is time for the 2020 Kia Sportage review! I wont say I was dying to review it, but it was definitely in my top 5 list of cars this year. Now everyone would agree with me when it comes to SUVs, the UAE is serious business. Even in the smaller SUV class, the competition is fierce. With the likes of the Toyota RAV4 and the Honda CR-V battling it out between themselves, it wont be wrong to admit that KIA has seized the initiative and positioned itself amongst the big boys. Both in terms of popularity and market share. Last year when I met Kia’s chief engineer and designer behind the Seltos, he was keen in talking to press, everyday consumers and took note of the feedback. It clearly shows that KIA listens and the 2020 KIA Sportage has significantly ramped up performance as well as the aesthetics. We drove the highest trim of the Kia Sportage and it revealed decent handling. The suspension deserves a special mention, it is adaptive and adds a lot to ride comfort. Acceleration response is satisfactory, even with a full load we got up to highway speeds in no time. The 0 – 100 km speed dash was clocked at 9.6 seconds. Fuel economy around the city was below par but considering the engine size, it not entirely poor. Driver assist features of note include automatic high-beam headlights, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go technology, driver-attention warning, pedestrian detection, and lane-keeping assist.

Exterior:

Kia has given the Sportage a sharp and more assertive look to the 2020 model than the previous year.There is a chrome outline around the grille and above the front bumper. Headlights are placed high up parallel to the hood and the overall design is aerodynamic. The sloping roofline, chrome lining on the side skirts and the new 18 inch alloy wheel design make the Kia Sportage looks sharp and stylish.

Interior:

The Sportage has a neat, spacious and a simple cabin design. There is a decent mix of quality materials, leather and some cool functional features that avoid it being labeled as too vanilla. The steering wheel feels confident upon touch and the multi-way adjustable front seating adds to driver comfort. The interior as a whole looks smart, well thought-out and  solidly built. In the center console, there is a 7.0-inch touchscreen with DAB, Bluetooth, USB and smartphone connectivity. The top trim we tested featured an 8-inch screen plus an 8-speaker Harman / Kardon sound system, with a subwoofer. Talk about being your own DJ!Did I mention the Android Auto / Apple CarPlay making the infotainment experience much nicer? Once open, the panoramic sunroof on the Sportage fills the whole cabin with light and makes it look even more spacious than it already is. Head and leg room is adequate for the rear seating and long drives wont invoke many complaints other than the low placement of the seat cushion.Kia has sacrificed cargo space for rear passenger comfort. It is a double edged sword, on one hand you get to stretch your legs and on the other, you might actually be keeping your luggage in your lap!

2020 Kia Sportage Price in UAE: Starting from AED 69,900

The Kia Sportage 2020 price is undoubtedly its most favorable feature. Top trim we tested is priced at AED 97,900 and we feel it was worth the money.
