Introduced three years ago, the 2020 GMC Acadia AT4 is in its second generation and for the new model year, GMC has applied a fresh face to the model to keep it inline with the rest of the lineup. Slotting in as the mid-sized SUV, the 2020 Acadia makes a bold statement. Gone is the round shape and in it’s place, a squarer exterior which I’m a fan of. I just love boxy cars. The new face is intimidating to look at and is reminiscent of the Sierra pickup. But what does the AT4 actually mean? Is it just an assortment of letters and numbers that don’t mean anything? The meaning I can’t give you, but what I do know is that AT4 is GMC’s off-road package which adds off-road tyres and all-wheel drive as standard. Before you head out for a spot of dune bashing, the Acadia AT4 is not built for that, but that’s not to say its a bad car. You can take it off the beaten trail and compact sand roads. Surprisingly on road, the 2020 Acadia delivers a smooth ride and handles almost like a sedan rather than a top-heavy SUV. Our test model didn’t have the off-road tyres, the cabin is quieter than usual plus the ride comfort has been enhanced with a new feature we’ll get to later.

GMC Acadia Specs:

Engine: 3.6 Liter – 6 Cylinders Horsepower: 310 Hp Torque: 366 Nm Drive System: All Wheel Drive Transmission: 9 Speed Automatic

Exterior:

The new exterior of the Acadia is a conversation starter and with the fresh front and rear, the Acadia has never looked this good. Chrome trimmings are few and far between unlike the Denali trim level and the AT4 pack keeps the exterior simple. GMC Acadia AT4 For 2020, the Acadia lineup gets retuned rear suspension allowing for better control when driving and more comfort for the rear passengers. Our test model was fitted with 17-inch alloys and as we mentioned earlier, the off-road rubber isn’t present but a quieter ride was.

Interior:

The cabin of the Acadia AT4 is plush and inviting. The seats are supple and provide adequte comfort for all three rows, but the same can’t be said for the dashboard materials. Harder plastics pop up far to much, but on the plus side, they don’t feel cheap. GMC Acadia AT4 Drivers have access to a analogue gauges with a small digital display showing relative information when driving. The steering wheel is clutter free and can control both the dashboard and cruise control settings. As mentioned earlier, there are three rows of seats offering space for 7 occupants. The second row is spacious for adults and the third row is ideal for the kids. Speaking of the kids, the Acadia is equipped with a rear seat warning that alerts the driver to check the back seats in case the little ones fell asleep on a long journey. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are available via the 8-inch infotainment system which is smooth to swipe left and right. There’s more to it with navigation and numerous safety features accessible via the system.

2020 GMC Acadia AT4 price in UAE: AED 143,500.
