2020 marked the launch of the new Ferrari Roma. This compact GT will certainly be flagging up on the radar for those just outside of Ferrari’s usual demographic. Based on their Portofino (which succeeded the California in 2018), the Roma is a high-performance coupe named in honor of Italy’s capital.
Exterior:
Proportionally, the Roma is similar to an Aston Martin Vantage. With many odes to Ferraris of the past and present it pertains to that prestige Ferrari finish. A shark nose, wide hood and a linear LED headlight design makes the Roma an interesting choice. The front end of the vehicle takes inspiration from the SF90 Stradale with LED lights swooping low to the middle where they meet the body colored mesh grille. The aerodynamic wings run seamlessly through to the rear with a look of 812 Superfast clearly inspiring the shape. At the rear there’s a deployable spoiler that provides low, medium and high downforce to add to the aero balance, finished off with minimalist rear lights making use of technology to reduce their visibility when off, whilst maximizing their brightness when on.Ferrari Roma Specs:
The front mid-engine set up harbours a 3.9-liter, twin turbo v8. Producing a whopping 612BHP and 760Nm of torque the Roma shifts. The 8-speed dual clutch transmission is lifted straight from the Stradale and weighs 13lb less than the Portofino’s 7-speed and has improved shift times in manual offering faster, smoother transitions. In a first for Ferrari’s GT models the Roma comes with Dynamic Enhancer which changes the yaw angle, shifting the centre of gravity. For fun, frolics or fright it also has Ferrari’s side-slip control, the Manetinno dial, which offers five driving styles from comfort through to race. Launch control sees a 0-100km/h time of 3.4 seconds with a max speed of 320km/h. The chassis is 70% new build from Portofino and with lighter parts used where possible, all this achieving a 10% reduction in roll from its predecessor.Interior:
Inside we find a dual cockpit, with the passenger and driver in their own ‘cell’. The dash is fully digital and there’s a 16” wrap around touchscreen display monitoring the performance. The same integrated steering wheel from the flagship SF90 Stradale keeps all your driving aids and upgrades just a thumb-click away. Your passenger has their own 8” touchscreen in the centre console from which they can monitor performance metrics and choose the entertainment. The Perfect Blend
The Roma pushes the boundaries of a GT coupe when it comes to performance. It holds all the luxury and prestige that we’ve come to expect from Ferrari, both inside and out. As Ferrari have marketed it, the Roma is for “living your best life”. What we interpret that as is, a very, very fancy daily.2020 Ferrari Roma price in UAE:
