The 2019 model of the Honda Pilot is a continuation of the third generation that was introduced in 2016.
Over the years, especially in the Middle East, there has been a slight increase in the popularity of crossover SUVs. Since many people realize that they don’t really off-road then why is there a need to spend the extra money when there are cost-effective, good looking alternatives available.
As a reviewer, I sometimes push the cars to an extreme just to test their metal. My initial opinion of the Honda Pilot was of a “Softy”. Before driving it, I thought of this car as a mediocre crossover built for the city roads that could not deliver off-road confidence or much control but I was proven wrong.
I drove this car uphill towards the curvy Jabel Hafeet, the less travelled sands of Al Qudra desert and raced it on the Mohammed Bin Zayed Road. There are four different drives modes to choose from “Normal”, “Snow”, “Mud” and “Sand”. The Pilot with its 9 speed automatic transmission does not disappoint you no matter what terrain you are in.
Pilot’s all-wheel drive system has an intelligent method of distributing torque not only between the front and rear axles, but also between the left and right rear wheels. This alone is revolutionary and enough to silence its critics like myself.
Honda Pilot has an aggressively styled ergonomic exterior, plush roomy interior, premium build quality, a decent infotainment system, good fuel economy, powerful engine, passenger safety and enviable luggage space. All of these qualities make the Honda Pilot’s Touring trim a strong contender to be the ideal modern family SUV.
Thin LED headlights and the day-time running lights add finesse to Pilot’s bold character.
The Touring trim gives you roof rails. You might never use them but they are there just in case.
As far as connectivity is concerned, you get second row USB charging spots, a Wi-Fi Hotspot, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
All rows of seating are comfortable but entry to the third row is a bit tricky.
With Pilot’s tri-zone automatic climate control and a strong air conditioner, even the third row passengers can sit comfortably.
The trunk has a power lift-gate and ample storage even with all three rows of seating in use. Once you fold the third and second row seating, the storage space increases to 3086 liters. Talk about transporting some cargo here!

With 20 inch alloy wheels and 7.9 inches of ground clearance, the Honda Pilot claims its space on the road as a serious, aggressive vehicle.

Interior:
Loaded with premium materials, the Pilot has leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, one-touch slide-and-fold second-row seats and an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen. The car is equipped with sound-reducing front door glass that eliminates much of the road and engine noise.
